MUI started of the new year with a special thought for its members in Kolkata. Mr. Amar Singh Thakur – General Secretary, who brought up the idea of holding such a meeting, took personal interest to ensure that our seafarer members of this region were given an opportunity to interact and develop closer ties with their Union. On January 11, 2019, a gathering of MUI members was held at Hotel Regenta Orkos, Kasba, Kolkata. Mr. Thakur delivered an enlightening speech to around 200 member seafarers and their families were present. A rapport was created and queries of those present were cleared to their satisfaction. The meeting was appreciated by all present. MUI also felicitated Ms. Reshma Nilofer Naha – First Women Marine Pilot of Kolkata Port Trust with a momento. She acknowledged and appreciated the gesture of MUI towards her unique achievement.
